The Dorm Days

So I've decided to go on a diet and to boost my exercise, for... reasons that should be obvious. And since I have minimal distractions, I should be able to stick to it pretty well. I wrote out my meals and exercises for the week. I have two quizzes this week, one in digital logic and one in psychology. If I were to pick one class that was the hardest, it would be digital logic, mainly because it's the only class that has homework that covers things I've never heard of. But, I have to admit, it is definitely the most interesting.

This place is so freaking dehydrating I've been struggling to drink enough. It hasn't really affected the digestion part of me, but its getting difficult to wear my contacts. Speaking of which I scratched up one contact pretty bad so I'm going to switch it with a new one really quick....... done. I can see!

One thing that really bothers me is the temperatures in the dorms. It's always extremely warm, despite what temperature it is outside. And if it's warm outside, then boy are you in trouble. Today has been the coldest it's been so for, and I like that. Because I can dress normal.

I haven't found a church I like yet. The one on campus is kind of small and their sermons are really basic. Also there's like 3 girls there and they're already taken. Not that that's my main reason for going, but I think that for the Christian, that's probably the best place to mingle or at least set up a date. I wonder why I start worrying about dating now. Maybe its because everyone knew me in Bandon. And because most dating in Bandon (to my own experience) doesn't work out. And, hey, I'm in college.

Questions and comments are welcomed!

My first week of college

I have to admit, I love college. HEY! Okay, that was a little cheesey. But you catch my drift. Living a set of stairs or just down the hall away from your friends is pretty sick. Classes are actually pretty casual. I do have some intense studying to do for Psychology and Digital Logic. But other than that, college has been coming off as easy. Intro to Computer Systems is definitely my favorite class. It's kind of like tech team. One thing I found out though, is that the CSET building (hosts all the computer related courses) has 43 mpbs download speed, while my dorm room has .95 mbps with a 5 gig limit.

Transistion!

I've made a fair amount of friends and a few mutual friends. All of which are guys. So I'm going to be switching into girl chasing mode pretty soon here. I've purchased a camcorder so I'm going to be posting a lot more videos on here also. Maybe get a few subscribers on youtube. If you have any questions or suggestions, post a comment below.

To my fellow...... fellows. My OIT dorms.

The First Week

Well I haven't posted much because I've been so busy! Traveling to the college was nice, no injuries. I've already morphed into a foursome of friends. 2 (including me) are from Oregon, 1 from Louisiana, and the last from Egypt. You wouldn't know that he was from Egypt unless he told you. He looks American, speaks English fine, and even knows about the same amount about law and the media as most Americans. And he's pretty good at Halo: Reach. Speaking of which, he and I have almost beaten on legendary.

Transition

I can't close my closet doors, but other than that, my room is pretty organized. On second thought, after looking around, it's not organized, but it doesn't invade on my room mate's side....much. There's not a good place to put my djembe except under my bed being elevated by plastic cups aptly named, "bed heighteners".

*Update* Suicide is the #8 cause of death in the US.

I need to go exercise and study psychology and digital logic. Comments are encouraged!

The Student Housing Handbook

I just finished reading the Student Housing Handbook, and boy, I tell ya, they're strict. Anything fun that you could possibly do is outlawed, like playing video games online, or riding a bike in the dorm rooms, or lighting stuff on fire. And yet OSU has kids drinking in the substance-free dorms! I mean, not that I care about substances, but I would like to ride my bike down the hall without getting kicked out. And subs to stereos, probably the most important part to a freaking stereo, AND THEY'RE NOT ALLOWED! I'm pissed!

Ok, hopefully they aren't really that strict. I hope, hope, hope.

Tomorrow's my last full day in Bandon. Going to my last youth group and I'm helping setting up the Big Tent. I wonder what Freshmen Orientation is like....

Teh Ultimate Dance/Rave Musics!

So I used to be an avid techno fan and have mustered up a collection of crazy techno creations, most of them free from a site where people upload to and get reviews. So I was thinking, should I create some sick mixes to bring to college with me? I could bring in the babes with a few of these dance parties! Post what you think as a comment below. Bless your face. Peace out. (+1 Free Internet to whoever catches the reference)

My Thought of Reach

It definitely brings all the Halo games together. The good points of each Halo were united well in this one. I haven't actually played past the first level so I won't give my opinion past that first level, which I thought, was great. But, could have improved on the wave drops. I mean, it's just so predictable. If they could do something like have them floof in over the hills instead of just having a drop ship always come in. I mean seriously, oh, new wave, I see a drop ship. Better duck for cover because of the gun, oh, it's leaving, throw a grenade in the middle of them, finish off the elites. Bleh.

4 Days Till Liftoff!

So yesterday I got an email from OIT giving me information on my roommate. Being the creeper that I am, I looked him up on Facebook and Myspace. His Facebook default photo was a picture of Gears of War. So maybe we won't come off so different.

Halo: Reach arrived at my house today!

But I haven't played it yet, even though I went to a "Reach" party last night. I was told I didn't need to bring anything. I sent off my Financial Aid awards letter yesterday, accepting only the Stafford Loan sub & unsub because we're going through our credit union to pay off the rest. Scary though. Those big loans. Peace off.

The days of summer are coming to an end. :(

My time here in Bandon is coming to an end. But, I hear that summer lives on through September and October in KFalls. So I'm excited to have a little more warmth before the winter. I am thankful for Bandon's not so cold winters, but I hate the fact that it rains uncontrollably from December to April.

CHICKEN NUGGET!

Ha, you thought I was going to bore you to death. Well you thought wrong! 7 days and counting till I escape this black hole of a town. I'm taking my XBox w/ me. I don't care what people say, netflix is too important for me to leave my Microsoft Box behind.

I'm so excited for college! I need escape from Bandon.

8 Days and Counting

The application fees have been paid and I'll be staying in the dorms. My mom helped me buy stuff for school such as bedding and hygiene supplies. I registered for a double room so that I'll get to know someone seeing as I'm extremely shy. Looks like I won't be getting Halo: Reach until winter break :( I might be video taping the dorms to show everyone what it's like. Comments below are encouraged!!!

Before the Journey

I'm Daniel Frank, a BHS graduate and a devout Christian. I love God with all my heart and above all else, desire His will in my life. I write this blog to share my college experience with others, so that they may learn from my success and mistakes attending OIT. I hate fleas, my house needs to be flee bombed. I will try to put more random stuff in my blogs so that someone will actually read them.

Anyways, I'm running on 100% loans, bad idea, but it beats not going to college at all. I itch from these freaking fleas. I just have to recite to myself, "Only ten more days," until it actually arrives. I applied at the last minute, turns out as long as you meet most of the requirements to attend OIT, they'll accept you. The only thing I didn't meet was the 2 consecutive years of foreign language. So if I have to take 1 more year of Spanish, I'll do that. But if I have to take 2, I'll take french. Because I think that the French are superior to Spaniards in looks, food, and accents.

I'm going in for Computer Engineering. I haven't decided if I want to do the hardware or software or both yet. But I'll let you know when I find out. I hate flees.

Peace out.
